SuperLeague Elimination 2006

By dnl

Vienna is famous for its beautiful architecture.
Until World War I Vienna was the capital of the vast Habsburg Empire. Vienna was known as the middle point of Central Europe and culture blossomed within this great city. Today it has lost most of its power and influence but the lustre is still evident. The city is famous for its fine operas and theatres, beautiful architecture and rich museums. Vienna does not only provide operas and fine culture there is also a great nightlife and many inviting cafés. On the 13th of May this beautiful city will be the host of the “SuperLeague Elimination 2006”.

SuperLeague has gathered its strongest fighters for this event, so buckle up and get ready for some really awesome fights. The SuperLeague Elimination 2006 consists of an elimination tournament with eight fighters divided into two pools. Alongside the tournament we have some first class super fights with one of them being the first ever SuperLeague title fight. In addition to this there is also an exciting tournament reserve fight on the card, In case a tournament fighter gets injured and cannot continue the winner of this fight will take his place. Let us take a closer look at the tournament line-up.

Pool 1

In Pool 1 we have Sahin “Kaas” Yakut up against Jose “The Devil´s Advocate” Reis. Sahin has still not lost to anybody in the SuperLeague and is therefore clearly one of the favourites to win the tournament. Reis on the other hand have two really close points losses to last years champion Alviar Lima. Reis who was fighting in last year’s tournament will no doubt come well prepared for this his second shot at the crown. In the next tournament fight we will see two of SuperLeagues somewhat new faces squaring of. Florin Vintila has looked very impressive in his fights (beat Foad Sadeghi) and many people believe he has great potential. Here he will be facing the young talented Dutch fighter Amir “The Sphinx” Zeyada. Zeyada had a brilliant start in the SuperLeague but then had two losses in a row (lost to Istvan Toth and Jordan Tai). Vintila is the more experienced of the two with twice as many fights on his record but the  young Zeyada is hungrier then ever before and this is his chance to show everybody what he is capable of.

Pool 2
Pool 2 features another new face in Istvan Toth who only had one fight in the SuperLeague so far (beat Amir Zeyada). Here hi will be facing none other then SuperLeagues nr 1 ranked super welterweight fighter Peter “The Gentlemen” Crooke”. Peter has had many good fights in the SuperLeague and we know hi is a strong contender. In last years tournament in Turkey he got KO’d  in the very first round by one of Kamal El Amranis devastating trademark spinning back kicks. Crooke was very disappointed after that fight and is now looking to redeem himself for last year’s setback. We know both guys like to use there hands and they are definitely not going to hold back so don’t be surprised if this fight ends in a KO victory for one of them. Next we got Foad “The Pitbull” Sadeghi versus Petr “The Chez Thunder” Polak. Sadeghi have had some really tough fights in the SuperLeague, his best moment has to be when he beat Ole “Baguio Laursen last year. That was a tremendous victory for him showing that he could mix it up with the best fighters out there. His opponent Peter Polak has also gone trough some tough fights since his debut in the SuperLeague. He has bin battling it out with the top names in his weight division fighting the likes of Chapman, Lima, El Amrani and Merza proving that he truly earned his place in this tournament. Get ready for an action packed fight, this one can go either way.

Tournament Reserve Fight
Of course their is also a tournament reserve fight in case one of the tournament fighters get injured the winner in this fight will advance and take their place in the tournament. This fight really shows the high standard of the SuperLeague putting two top fighters like Kamal “Lion King” El Armani and Jordan “Terror” Tai against each other as reserves for the tournament. This match up is very interesting as Amrani has been “away” for a period of time recharging his batteries after struggling with injuries and some bad luck. Tai in the meantime has experienced great success looking especially strong in his last fight against Zeayda which he won by KO. Will the older “Lion King” be able to defeat this young “Terror” from down under?  We will get all the answers on the 13th of May.

Additional Fights

In addition to this thrilling tournament we got some incredible Super Fights as well. For the first time ever we will se a SuperLeague title fight. Fadi Merza and Alviar Lima will fight for the SuperLeague European Champion Title. Another huge surprise is the Super Prestige Fight between Dimitry “The Shock” Shakuta and Shane Michael “Choppa” Chapman. More on these extremely fascinating match ups shortly.
